About the Vancouver Medical Association

Mission

helping local medical practice

Since its founding in 1898, the Vancouver Medical Association has educated, communicated, and advocated for Greater Vancouver’s medical community.

The story of the VMA will be developed on our History page.

Since 2012, the VMA has enjoyed a growing membership, up from 79 to over 400. We invite our local medical community to share camaraderie at our annual Osler Dinners where we recognize our Primum Inter Pares awardees.

Executive

Our Executive is looking for new and better ways for the VMA to make a difference. Our current Executive is:

  • Charles Webb – President
  • Susan Burgess – Secretary, Treasurer
  • Ernie Kane
  • Bob Wakefield
  • Dennis Bhui
  • Jesse Kancir
  • Panagiotis Galanopoulos

New energy and ideas are always most welcome. If you would like to pitch in, let us know.

Subscribing

If you are a physician living and/or working in Greater Vancouver, have a look at some of what we are trying to do, for example with the For Patients page and also our Priorities. Then, see about Joining.

Our Constitution and Bylaws – which are due for modernization – are provided for potential members’ reference.
